Clarifying the Assignment

            When delegation occurs, the first step is determining who the best person is to get the job done. Looking at employees within the organization who have the proper knowledge, skills, and qualifications to complete the task is essential in order to pick the best candidate. Once it has been determined who the best candidate is to get the job done, ensure that individual has the time and motivation to complete the task. Assigning someone who has little motivation or time would negatively affect the quality of work produced in the end. Before any work can be done towards completing the task, the employee involved needs clarification on the assignment. Clarification on the assignment includes communicating the expected results, specifying criteria to be met, and deadlines to be met. Once the employee has a clear understanding of all expectations, they should be allowed to determine the best methods and strategies that will allow them to get the job done.
