I am a part of generation Z, where the majority of us have grown up playing on our parents phones. I got my first phone in the 6th grade because I started walking home alone after school. It was a simple flip-phone with only 5 numbers in it but it was the start of something new. By the 8th grade, I saw all my friends with the latest Blackberry and my flip-phone clearly did not measure up. I saved up as much money as I could, and wrote out a statement to my parents telling them why I think I deserve/want a Blackberry. It took a lot of convincing but soon enough I got the newest Blackberry at that time. My mother tried establishing some ground rules on when and how long I could use it but over time those rules disappeared. I, not proudly, can say that from that point on, I™ve been addicted to my phone. No matter where I go, I will always have my phone in my hand, purse or back pocket. I am almost inseparable. I do my work on my phone, I stay connected with my friends and family, but I also do a lot of mindless scrolling through social media. Looking back at it now, I do not think it was very healthy for a young girl to be on social media as much as I did. I feel that it definitely influenced how I saw myself. I felt social pressures to be more of a woman instead of the girl that I was. Although I am aware of this now, does not mean that I am
