Professional Nursing Practice Task 1 C304    Professional Roles and Values Task 1  A. Nursing Theory  The nursing theory that has influenced my values and goals is Kolcabas Theory of Comfort.  According to Kolcaba, comfort is the product of holistic nursing art (Petiprin, Nursing Theory, 2016).  1.Application of Comfort Theory to Implement Excellent Nursing Practices   Nurses apply Kolcabas Theory of Comfort by providing specific comfort needs to the individual patient. These needs include physical, psychospiritual, environmental and sociocultural aspects. The nurse must assess the patients comforts needs, develop and implement suitable nursing care plans, and evaluate the patients comfort after the care plans have been carried out. By doing so, the patient would be able to experience comfort in the sense of relief, ease and transcendence (Petiprin, Nursing Theory, 2016). Experiencing comfort in the relief form would result from the nurse administering ordered pain medications and the patients pain resolves. Comfort in the ease form would result from the feeling of being content after the nurse has helped to resolve issues of anxiety. Comfort in the transcendence form would result from the nurse providing a helping hand to help the patient overcome their challenges (Comfort Theory, 2011).  2.Comfort Theory in my Professional Practice  The Theory of Comfort fits into my daily professional practice as a clinical nurse. I assess all of my patients for their comfort needs and develop a care plan that best fits them in ord
