FPX4000 Assessment2 1.docx  NHS-FPX400  Research on Interventions for Health Disparities, a Public Health Crisis  School of Nursing and Health Sciences, Capella University NHS-FXP4000: Developing a Health Care Perspective   Research on Interventions for Health Disparities, a Public Health Crisis  The health care disparities faced nationally and globally is a current public health crisis. Several of our communities are faced with limited access to quality health education and health care, limited access to nutritious food and tend to be more vulnerable to chronic diseases as a result of these disparities. Most recently, we were presented with evidence  that suggests the current SARS CoV-2 virus that has caused a global pandemic, predominantly affected the communities with lower socioeconomic status, environmental disadvantages and mostly African American, Latino ethnic communities who sustained the most loss of lives as a result of this virus.  This topic is of interest to me personally and professionally. I have been in community health nursing for over thirteen years, employed in the underserved area of Washington Heights in New York City for eleven years. During my tenure at a non for profit organization in this area, I had the opportunity to engage with diverse racial/ethnic minorities, mostly all of lower socioeconomic status.
