Assignment 2 4G Wireless Networks
The 3rd Generation Partnership Project (3GPP) developed the 3GPP LongTerm Evolution (LTE) standard for wireless communications technology. It is regarded as an evolution of the Global System for Mobile Communication (GSM), the Universal Mobile Telecommunications Systems (UMTS), and other standards. It is also known as the 4G LTE. The competition among the carriers to support 4G LTE networks has been very fierce as evidenced by TV commercials targeting smartphone users. Many smartphones run on 3G networks.

4G WIRELESS NETWORKS
Within the last decade, technology advancements within the United States and even global have advance based on the network system capabilities. Today’s wireless networks provide for services over a 3G or 4G wireless network. The 3G, third generation, of wireless technologies comes with enhancements over previous wireless technologies, like high-speed transmission, advanced multimedia access and global roaming. 3G is primarily used with mobile phones and handsets as a means to connect the phone to the Internet or other IP networks in order to make voice and video calls, to download and upload data and to surf the net. Even with a 3G speed at a maximum of 3.1Mbps, the Fourth Generation or 4G wireless technologies was implemented. The fourth generation meetsQoS (Quality of Service) and rate requirements that involve prioritization of network traffic to ensure good quality of services.
