1. Propose three (3) ways that a manager can cope with any negative emotions that may accompany an employee layoff.
There are several ways a manager can help an employee cope with being laid off. The first would be by offering a severance package, which would help the employee financially. It might not seem like a big deal too much but the severance package would aid in relieving stress for the ex-employee. The severance package will aid in helping the individual look for a new job. Since the ex-employee won’t rush into anything and get desperate for any job. As well the severance package will include benefits even after the dismissal, which can help the ex-employee for medical emergencies. Another way the manager can cope with the negative emotions is to offer onsite career training. This will help aid with job opportunities for the ex-employees since it can provide a freshen up of the resume. But as well the training will help in aide to have better interview practices, which will aid the ex-employees in obtaining another job. The onsite training will all be at expense of the company laying off the employee. Even though the expense might be small the gains of the company image will be great. The letter of recommendation will help the ex-employees demonstrate that even though they where laid off it was not because of their work ethic. This again cost the manager and the company little time to construct a letter of recommendation, which will help cope with the negative emotions of laying employees off.
2. Describe a step-by-step process of conducting the dismissal meeting.
The first step for the manager would be to remain calm above all else and respect the employee. As well it is best to be compassionate during this moment with the employee. The second step would be to conduct a meeting in which the manager and the employee meet in private. To which it will be explained why they are getting terminated from their employm...
