Moreover, the two tools exhibit high levels of compatibility and application in watching, diagnosing, and saving traffic across an entire network. It is also critical to note that the applications can be utilized for a wide range of operating systems, including Windows 2000, 98, 95, ME, NT, 2003, XP, and Vista. The functionality of tcpdump is based on printing the contents of data packets across a network. It is worth highlighting the fact that tcpdump is fundamentally a tool designed for UNIX, while windump is a tcpdump development for Windows.
