Case management coaching and coordination of care efforts are provided by some health insurance companies, to ensure appropriate follow-up care and adherence to asthma medication therapy. Blue cross blue shield of Mississippi has a pediatric outreach program for children identified with Asthma. The program is called the Good Health Club. Nurses clinicians make outreach calls to parents and children to provide coaching, education, coordination of care and referrals to resources that can help with Asthma management. There are a large variety of other organizations that help parents of children with asthma, the following are a few resources. The Lung force is an organization affiliated with the American lung association. It provides education to families and children, to help them manage and treat their Asthma. Offering training sessions, seminars and expos to all members of the community affected by asthma. The American Lung Association in Mississippi offers courses to help individuals manage their asthma. They provide online support communities and freedom from smoking clinics to help people quit smoking as this is a major trigger for childhood asthma. In general, they provide local community support education and training. parents can call on a support system, which can positively impact their health and that of their child. This resource provides an in-person support group nearby, connect with an expert online or over the phone, or individuals can join one of their online communities today. (lung.org, 2019) Asthma medications can be very costly. there is patient assistance program available which may help individuals obtain asthma medications at free, reduced or at very low cost. Running Head: Unit 4 Assignment _ Childhood Asthma 3 BREATH is a program that Bridges resources to encourage Asthma Treatment and Health. It is a comprehensive asthma and allergy management program available to eligible children who have been diagnosed with asthma and/or allergies of all types.
