INSTRUCTOR's COMMENTS:

I have sat in (listened to) many presentations, and I have prepared and delivered many to all kinds of audiences. In business, presentations serve many functions. What makes a good presentation, and how do we deliver a good presentation are two basic questions. I would encourage you to consider several things. The first is the concept of the three T's. I shared this elsewhere. It is so important that you help you audience from the beginning understand why you are standing before them and what you will be speaking about. It is a travesty for an audience to hear many slides before they understand why they are assembled. (This is a good reason to circulate an agenda ahead of time and to have a summary slide up front.) Another element that is so important is to recognize that when you have captured key individuals in a presentation (your audience), make sure that when you are concluding they know what you are asking them to do or what decision you are expecting them to make. The presentation must have a purpose, and when it is concluded, decision makers need to have a clear indication of what is expected. How do we best meet these objectives?
