ENG315 Week 2 Discussion

I remember a manufacturing company that I use to work for, that started a market analysis for ways to stream line manufacturing and cutting costs. Automation was one of the key components verses the hiring of more employee's, that would create more shifts to handle the increase in production. To say the least, before the market analysis could be completed, the manufacturing director along with the marketing director decided that hiring more people would be more effective than adding automation to the assembly line. The decision had come from a media report on how the economic down turn had hurt the big three in Detroit, in which some of them had just added robots to new sections of the assembly line, which in turn had cost them millions, that now sit in idle, due to low production demands.
