Final_Milestone.docx Program Evaluation: The HALO Project Southern New Hampshire University PSY 632: Developmental Psychology Program Evaluation: The HALO Project Developmental Issue            Child abuse and trauma can cause psychological developmental problems, especially among those in the foster care system. These may not be classified as disorders, but they can lead to problems that include low self-esteem, behavioral, developmental, and mental health issues, substance abuse, PTSD, and many more. Child abuse and trauma are extremely broad. It includes abuse and trauma in the form of sexual, mental, emotional, neglect, and physical abuse by a parent or a caregiver of the child. The issues of child abuse include diminished cognitive development and developmental delays along with several mental health disorders. According to McCrory et al., (2012), child abuse is associated with œlater psychopathology, including conduct disorder, antisocial personality disorder, anxiety, and depression as well as a heightened risk of health and social problems.            When a child is abused or experiences trauma, it can cause developmental delays. According to Lehmann et al., (2020), some children placed in foster care are part of a vulnerable group who have experienced abuse and neglect, so they have a high prevalence of mental disorders.
