These social situations might include reading aloud in class, presenting a project, interacting with other students, and meeting new people. These seemingly harmless activities, however, can be debilitating for those suffering from a social anxiety disorder.  Recent studies show that about seven percent of children and adolescents experience anxiety, contributing to negative lived school experiences.
