The complete route of the Great Wall over 20,000 kilometers, as well as elements constructed in different historical periods which constitute the complicated defense system of the property, including walls, fortresses, passes and beacon towers, have been preserved to the present day. The building methods of the Great Wall in different times and places have been integrally maintained, while the unparalleled national and cultural significance of the Great Wall to China is still recognized today. What was the function and purpose of the Great Wall?
The function and purpose of the Great Wall was great military project to separate the aggressors and barbarians, the Mongrels, from the north from invading the Chinese. It was to preserve the Chinese people and their way of life, as well as, their security. The Great Wall at times served as a secure passage way for its people to travel from one area to another when needing to overcome the terrain and physical barriers. The first wall built, although helped, was not sufficient and did not serve the needs of the country. Therefore, a different wall all together was build.
